FAQ's
R-22 Phase Out/R410A Replacement
R-22 is being phased out in compliance with the federal government. As a result our industry is changing over to the replacement refrigerant (R-410A). All existing equipment will remain serviceable. We will have R-22 available for all necessary repairs for the next 10 years or longer.
Air Conditioning Manufacturers are no longer able to manufacture R-22 equipment. Only certain pieces of equipment are still
available to work with R-22 and are slowly becoming sold out.
New R410A equipment is slightly more expensive and requires additional steps during installation. The main benefit for the
property owner is knowing their equipment change over is behind them and their new equipment is environmentally sound.
What You Should Know about Refrigerants When Purchasing or Repairing a Residential A/C System or Heat Pump

If a homeowner has an existing outdoor unit that is in need of replacement, it is recommended that the indoor unit be replaced (coil, furnace or air handler) at the same time. The reason for this is so that the system will be properly matched based on the manufacturers approved match-up data.
A system that is not properly matched will lose efficiency and be more expensive to operate and maintain. This is especially true for homeowners who have outdoor units that are below the current 13-SEER minimum efficiency standard that went into effect Jan 22, 2006.
